Without a doubt my favorite application for learning Mandarin. A pleasant and super complete interface ! In its free version you will be able to learn the basics of the language, the tones, the first vocabulary words, as well as the sentences and their structures. On the other hand, the more you progress, the more it will be necessary to subscribe to a paying offer (cf. attached picture at the end of the article). HelloChinese is the possibility to learn and especially to review in an extremely efficient way thanks to their flash cards system. Every day you will have a list to review, if you are assiduous I guarantee you that you will see enormous progress ! This application also has a reward system. Well, it's not what's going to change your life, since it's only badges to show your efforts, successes, assiduity, progress. A bit like the "good points" we used to give out at school ^^ But it helps motivate, you can see it as a nice little challenge. It's cool !
